Henry B. Nickols is the adopted Son of Yorick & Alice Nickols and for whom this town was named. Henry (Dyer) Yorick Nickols drowned in the North Platte River across from his home where he and some friends had gone to swim. Henry died on a Tuesday evening at about 8:00 pm. His body sank in about 20 feet of water and tangled in some weeds. Henry was almost 14 yrs of age and was popular with everyone who knew him.
