CARL OSCAR NELSON & EMILY MARIE FORSELL

 

 

 

Carl Oscar Nelson, or Nils'son, according to the Swedish use of patronymics, son of Nils Eric Olson, was born in Sweden, September 25, 1867. At the age of sixteen years he had finished high school, and came to the United States, his father sending him off alone with twenty-five dollars. When he arrived in New Windsor, Illinois, he had fifty cents left. He lived for a short time with relatives before moving to Nebraska where he worked on a farm at Harvard. He farmed in Clay County Nebraska, until 1900, when he entered the farm equipment business in Omaha, and in 1915, moved to Auburn, Nebraska.
    Carl Oscar Nelson married, February 25, 1891, Emily Marie Forsell, who was born in Kalmar, Sweden, February 12, 1868, daughter of Peter August and Sophia (Jonson) Fors. Her parents brought her to the United States at the age of two years, and the family lived in Galesburg, Illinois, until about 1884, when they moved to a farm in Clay County, Nebraska. She was educated in Galesburg. Peter August Fors was born in Kalmar, Sweden, in 1834, and his wife in 1833.
